An enquiry into God, by Robert Holden

Talking about God is not something that we often do, a bit like talking about politics, it can be a touchy subject and evoke strong emotions. It took me many years to find a God I was accepting of and actually understood. I like the way Robert Holden speaks about a God. Maybe you might find something here that fits with you too.

When we were introduced to God, some of us were introduced to a God of unconditional love.  Some have been introduced to a God of fear and judgement, guilt.  If we have been introduced to a God of fear, judgement and guilt, then we could spend our adulthood trying to work through those issues and emotions around that. 

It’s important to believe in something bigger than yourself.  Believe in something bigger than yourself supports you through life. It is important to believe in something bigger that yourself because if you gain, you gain all and if you lose you lose nothing. 

An enquiry into God does not need to involve religion.  It is about understanding yourself. You do not need to learn about religion to learn about God.

An enquiry into God does not go outside of ourselves.  It is an enquiry into the essence of who we really are into that place that is unconditioned by this world. 

God = a presence in your heart.

Once we understand this, we then become aware that God is an essence of creation that which made us. An enquiry into God helps us become innocent again.  

If you avoid an enquiry into God, into your unconditioned self, you will then live a life through psychology alone, rather than psychology and spirituality.  If you are afraid of looking at this enquiry, you end up being superstitious. We press it down and end up being run by a super ego, a voice we make up in our head as a substitute God.  It ends up being a voice of judgement. 

When we take a look at ourselves and find this God, the story we tell about the world and ourselves falls away. The guilt and fear fades away and we start to live from our whole self rather than our learned self.

An enquiry into God helps us become innocent again.

Love is the mind of God and love is the heart of who we are.

2.  From 0-100% how much do I let God love me?

You cant let God and life love you and let yourself hold onto the idea that there is something wrong with you.  The idea that something is wrong with you ends up being a story.  If you are willing to let the story go – even for a day - so you can see who you really are... you're in with a chance of seeing who you really are – an essence of God love.
